ロレックスを代表する自動巻き時計のデイトジャスト。
その特徴的な外観から誰が見てもひと目でわかる時計として広く知られています。
日付が0時に瞬時に変わる「デイトジャスト機構」は「オイスターケース」と自動巻きの「パーペチュアル機構」とともにロレックスの３大発明とされ、このデイトジャストはそれらを全て備えた集大成とも言えるモデルです。
このRef.16233は1988年頃に登場し2004年まで生産されたモデルで、現行デイトジャストのRef.116233の一つ前の世代に当たります。
フルーテッドベゼル、ジュビリーブレスレット、バーインデックスという1960年代に確立されたデイトジャストの基本デザインを踏襲しています。
このデザインこそロレックスというイメージな方も多いかも。
ステンレススティール(SS)とイエローゴールド(YG)のコンビネーションデザインで、ベゼル、リューズ、そしてブレスレットの中央がゴールドと豪華さが感じられます。
ステンレススティールとゴールドのコンビネーションはロレックスでは「ロレゾール」という名で登録されており、そのルールに則るとこちらは「イエローロレゾール」という名称ですが、一般的には「コンビ」と言われていますね。
同じ世代でホワイトゴールドのコンビのものはRef.16234というリファレンスナンバーです。
この時計は最初期の1988年に販売された時計で大きな特徴は文字盤のデザインです。
「タペストリーダイアル」と呼ばれる縦筋の入った文字盤は陰影が出やすく、輝きだけでは無い魅力があります。
60年代などのヴィンテージモデルには無く、かつ現行モデルにも存在していない独創的なデザインなのが最大のポイント。
前世代のモデル Ref.16013からの変更点として、搭載ムーブメントの変更、防水性能が100mまでアップした点、風防がプラスチックからサファイアクリスタルに変更されたという機能面のみの変更がありました。
風防がガラスになったことで気密性が向上し、普段使いにはより適した時計と言えると思います。
風防ガラスを交換し、ケース・ブレスレット共に新品仕上げ済みですので、およそ30年以上前の時計とは思えない外観となっています。
搭載ムーブメントはCal.3135。
発表されてから約30年を経た今でも、時計業界における最高のムーブメントの一つとして評価され続けています。
定期的なメンテナンスを行えば精度を永続的に保てる点、メンテナンス性もしやすいという点で非常に完成度の高いムーブメントと言えますね。
サブマリーナー Ref.16610や116610LNなどにも搭載されており、設計を変える必要の無い程に完成されていると言えます。
ブレスレットはジュビリーブレスレット 62523Hが付属します。
さすがに垂れはありますが、仕上げ済みのため非常にきれいな状態です。
クラスプコードから、ブレスレットは1988年頃と分かりますので恐らく発売当時のものと思われます。
ブレスレットは22コマですので、腕周り約18.5cmまでは装着可能です。

【Description】
The Datejust is one of Rolex’s most popular self-winding watches.
It is widely known as a watch that anyone can recognize at a glance from its distinctive appearance.
The Datejust mechanism, in which the date changes instantly at zero o’clock, is considered one of Rolex’s three greatest inventions, together with the Oyster case and the self-winding Perpetual mechanism, and the Datejust model is the culmination of all of them.
Ref. 16233 was introduced in 1988 and was produced until 2004, one generation before the current Datejust model, Ref. 116233.
It follows the basic Datejust design established in the 1960s: a fluted bezel, a Jubilee bracelet and bar indexes.
The combination of stainless steel (SS) and yellow gold (YG) design with gold central bezel, crown and bracelet is a luxurious touch.
The combination of stainless steel and gold is registered at Rolex under the name “Loresol”, and according to the rules, this one is called “Yellow Loresol”, but it’s more commonly known as a “combination”.
A white gold combination of the same generation is Ref.16234, a reference number.
This watch was originally sold in 1988, and its main feature is the design of the dial.
The “tapestry dial”, which has vertical streaks on it, is so brilliant.
The most important point is the original design, which is not found in the vintage models of the 60s, and which does not exist in the current models.
Compared to the previous generation model Ref.16013, there are only functional changes: the on-board movement has been changed, the water resistance has been increased to 100 meters, and the windshield has been changed from plastic to sapphire crystal.
The glass windshield is now glass, which makes the watch more airtight and makes it more suitable for everyday use.
It is hard to believe that the watch is more than 30 years old because the windshield has been replaced and the case and bracelet are both new.
The movement on board is Cal.3135, which continues to be regarded as one of the best movements in the watch industry, even after about 30 years since it was announced.
It is a movement with a very high degree of perfection in terms of its accuracy and ease of maintenance, which can be maintained permanently with regular maintenance.
It is also used in the Submariner Ref.16610 and 116610LN, and it is a movement that is so complete that there is no need to change its design.
The bracelet comes with a Jubilee bracelet 62523H. There is some sagging, as expected, but the bracelet has been finished and is in very clean condition.
The clasp code tells us that the bracelet is circa 1988, so it was probably made when it was released.
The bracelet is 22 links, so it can be worn up to about 18.5 cm around the arm.
As shown in the photos, the watch comes with a guarantee and a tag.

The watch would be completely serviced by our watchmaker after your order.
It takes about 4 weeks to complete. It comes with 1-year warranty.
[About Leather Strap]
Due to Washington Convention, we cannot export Crocodile/Alligator/Lizard leather overseas.
We will replace the strap with a similar strap made of calf leather as an alternative.
Or we will send the watch without strap if we don't have stocks of them.

オーバーホールについて
オーバーホール(Overhaul)とは機械製品を部品単位まで分解して清掃、再組み立てを行い、新品時の性能状態に近づける作業のことです。
オーバーホールの手順として大まかに説明すると、
1.ケースとムーブメントに分ける
2.ムーブメントを分解する
3.各部品の消耗具合の点検・予備洗浄
4.専用の機械で洗浄
5.注油・組み立て
6.防水検査 (防水機能が保証されるもの)
7.調整・ランニングテスト
という流れで行われます。
ムーブメントによっては数百の部品で構成されますが、それらを1個単位まで分解し全てを点検し洗浄して再度組み立てるという非常に緻密な作業です。
オーバーホールをしないと、車と同じようににオイルが劣化し部品の摩耗や破損のリスクが高まり、精度の低下や重症の場合は動かないという事態を引き起こします。
部品の破損が見つかってから交換すると非常に費用が嵩むという理由もありますので経済的かつ長くお使い頂くためにも、2-3年に一度のオーバーホールを推奨しています。
ポリッシュ(研磨/新品仕上げ)について
ヴィンテージウォッチは何十年と使用されてきており、多くの時計に使用されるステンレスでも本来角が立っていた部分が丸みを帯びてきたり、鏡面仕上げが美しいはずが小キズが多く入っているという状態になってしまいます。
アルビトロでは美しい状態で購入して頂き、長くお使い頂くという考えのもと、新品仕上げを施して販売している時計がございます。
特にゴールドケースのドレスウォッチは貴金属ケースの良さを最大限に引き出す意味でも仕上げを施しています。
アルビトロで販売している時計で新品仕上げを施したものは非常に高精細で撮影しているためエッジが立っている、鏡面仕上げによって光が反射しているのがお分かり頂けるかと思います。
また、ケースやブレスレットによっては鏡面仕上げとヘアライン仕上げなど複数の仕上げが混合しているものもありますが、それらをきっちりと区別して高いレベルで仕上げることが出来る職人は多くはありません。
また、「ケースの痩せ」に関しても職人の腕に非常に左右される部分です。痩せてラグが細くなってしまった時計は本来のデザインからは遠くなり、見た目のバランスが悪くなってしまいます。
ケースの痩せを極限まで減らしながらキズや凹みを無くし、本来の仕上げに近付ける非常に緻密な作業です。
勿論、その時計のこれまでの歴史として、またオリジナルコンディションを重視するという意味でそのままの状態でお使い頂くのが良い場合もあります。
1つ1つの時計を見て、仕上げを施すのが良いかを判断した上で販売を行っています。
